Directions and Safety
Inspect each lid before use. Do not use a lid that is bent, dented, rusted, damaged, or missing any portion of its sealing compound.
Use with a clean, undamaged wide-mouth jar and a compatible screw band. Prepare the lids according to the directions printed on the package.
Flat metal canning lids are intended for one-time heat-processing use. Screw bands may be reused when they remain clean, rust-free, and undamaged.
Always follow a current, research-tested canning recipe. Use the proper jar size, headspace, processing time, canning method, pressure, and altitude adjustment. Low-acid foods such as meats, plain vegetables, beans, broths, and many soups must be processed in a pressure canner.
A sealed lid does not make improperly processed food safe.
Storage
Store unused lids in their original box in a clean, cool, and dry location. Protect them from moisture, rust, bending, dents, and extreme heat.
