Andrographis

Andrographis is an intensely bitter herb with a long history in Ayurvedic, Chinese, and Southeast Asian herbal traditions. It is commonly researched by customers interested in immune support, seasonal wellness, respiratory traditions, bitter tonics, digestion, liver traditions, microbial balance, and healthy-inflammation traditions. It is a high-caution herb with meaningful allergy and medication-interaction concerns.

Scientific Evidence / Research Status

Andrographis contains diterpenoid lactones, including andrographolides. Standardized extracts have been examined in human studies for symptoms associated with colds and upper-respiratory infections, but studies vary in formula, quality, dose, and combination ingredients. Preliminary findings do not establish that loose Andrographis treats influenza, bacterial or viral infections, immune disease, liver disease, inflammatory disease, or other medical conditions. Allergic reactions, including serious reactions, have been reported, and medication interactions are possible. Memorial Sloan Kettering: Andrographis

Traditional Uses Listed on Jar Label

Immune support, seasonal wellness, respiratory support, bitter tonic, digestion, liver support, microbial balance, and healthy-inflammation response.

Jar-Label Warning Highlights

High-caution herb. Avoid during pregnancy or nursing. Use with care with autoimmune conditions, immunosuppressants, blood thinners, blood-pressure medication, diabetes medication, liver concerns, fertility concerns, allergies, medications, or before surgery. It may cause digestive upset, headache, dizziness, rash, or a serious allergic reaction.

Historical Uses / Traditional Context

Historically, Andrographis was used as a bitter seasonal and digestive herb in Asian medical systems. Traditional use and modern research on standardized extracts should not be transferred automatically to an unidentified loose-herb preparation or used as a substitute for infection testing and treatment.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

The herb jar labels in this store are personal inventory labels used by the owner of Yahuah's Farm for internal organization, pricing, and owner reference. They are not customer instructions, medical advice, dosage instructions, health advice, or personal recommendations.

Please disregard the health-support wording on the jar labels. Do not choose, purchase, prepare, or use any herb based only on words written on the jar, including words such as support, inflammation, digestion, immune, heart, circulation, pain, skin, blood flow, liver, hormones, or similar wording.

Those words are not promises, guarantees, proof, or claims that the herb will help that condition. Just because a jar label lists a body system or support word does not mean that herb will help you personally.

Use extra caution with children, elderly persons, pregnant or nursing women, and anyone with a medical condition. Do not use herbs as a replacement for needed medical care, testing, diagnosis, or treatment.

You are responsible to research every herb thoroughly before buying or using it. Speak with a qualified healthcare professional before using herbs, especially if you take medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are preparing for surgery.
