Burdock Root

Burdock Root is a traditional food and root herb with a long history in Asian, European, and North American culinary and herbal traditions. It is commonly researched by customers interested in liver traditions, skin, lymph flow, digestion, blood-sugar traditions, kidney and bladder support, prebiotic fiber, detox traditions, antioxidants, and gentle-inflammation traditions. Burdock belongs to the Asteraceae family and may cause reactions in people sensitive to related plants.

Scientific Evidence / Research Status

Burdock Root contains inulin, other fibers, phenolic compounds, and additional plant constituents. Although its food value, prebiotic fiber, chemistry, and laboratory activity have been studied, strong human clinical evidence for most promoted health uses is lacking. The phrase “detox tradition” describes historical herbal language and does not prove that Burdock removes toxins. Burdock should not be presented as proven to treat liver disease, kidney disease, bladder disease, diabetes, skin disorders, lymphatic disease, inflammation, or other medical conditions.

Traditional Uses Listed on Jar Label

Liver support, skin, lymph flow, digestion, blood-sugar balance, kidney and bladder support, prebiotic fiber, detox tradition, antioxidants, and gentle-inflammation support.

Jar-Label Warning Highlights

Avoid during pregnancy or nursing unless professionally guided. Use with care with diabetes medication, diuretics, lithium, blood thinners, kidney disease, dehydration, or ongoing medication use. Avoid if allergic to ragweed, daisies, chrysanthemums, or other Asteraceae-family plants.

Historical Uses / Traditional Context

Historically, Burdock Root was eaten as a vegetable in parts of Asia and used in European and North American spring-tonic and skin-related traditions. Culinary use and concentrated herbal use differ, and its traditional “cleansing” reputation should not replace liver, kidney, skin, or metabolic medical care.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

The herb jar labels in this store are personal inventory labels used by the owner of Yahuah's Farm for internal organization, pricing, and owner reference. They are not customer instructions, medical advice, dosage instructions, health advice, or personal recommendations.

Please disregard the health-support wording on the jar labels. Do not choose, purchase, prepare, or use any herb based only on words written on the jar, including words such as support, inflammation, digestion, immune, heart, circulation, pain, skin, blood flow, liver, hormones, or similar wording.

Those words are not promises, guarantees, proof, or claims that the herb will help that condition. Just because a jar label lists a body system or support word does not mean that herb will help you personally.

Use extra caution with children, elderly persons, pregnant or nursing women, and anyone with a medical condition. Do not use herbs as a replacement for needed medical care, testing, diagnosis, or treatment.

You are responsible to research every herb thoroughly before buying or using it. Speak with a qualified healthcare professional before using herbs, especially if you take medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are preparing for surgery.
