Fig Leaf (Ficus carica) Tincture
Harnessing the time‑honored wisdom of fig leaves, this tincture supports multiple systems in the body. Traditionally used to help regulate blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity, fig leaf also shows promise for supporting healthy cholesterol levels and balanced lipid profiles. Its anti‑inflammatory and antioxidant compounds make it a go‑to botanical for soothing skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo—either taken internally or applied topically. Additional traditional uses include relief from mild gastrointestinal upset (such as constipation or bloating), cardiovascular support, and even gentle antispasmodic action for menstrual cramps.
How to Use
-
Internal: Shake well and take 1 ml (≈ 20 drops) in water, juice, or tea 1–3 times daily.
-
Topical: For skin concerns, dilute 10–15 drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil (olive or coconut) and apply to the affected area 1–2 times daily.
-
Gargle: Add 10 drops to ½ cup warm water, swish for 30 seconds, then spit to soothe irritated throats and mucous membranes.
Safety & Storage
Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Fig leaf may increase sun sensitivity when applied topically—use sunscreen if you’ll be outdoors. If you’re pregnant, nursing, or taking prescription medications (especially for blood sugar), please consult your healthcare provider before use.
