Gotu Kola is a treasured medicinal herb known around the world for its traditional use in supporting memory, focus, circulation, skin health, and overall wellness. Often called the “Herb of Longevity,” Gotu Kola has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese practices and is highly valued by herbalists and homesteaders alike.
This low-growing creeping perennial produces small rounded green leaves and spreads beautifully as a living ground cover in moist areas. It thrives in warm, humid climates and can be grown in containers, greenhouse setups, raised beds, or outdoors in the warmer months. In cooler climates like Arkansas, many growers treat it as a seasonal perennial or bring it indoors during winter.
Gotu Kola is traditionally used to help support: memory and mental clarity, healthy circulation, skin repair, wound healing, and stress support. The fresh or dried leaves are commonly used in teas, tinctures, salves, infused oils, and even fresh in salads or smoothies.
This plant is shipped as a dry bare root / dormant root.
When your Gotu Kola arrives, it may appear dry or wilted from shipping—this is normal. Once planted and watered, it often recovers quickly.
How to Care for Your Bare Root Gotu Kola Upon Arrival:
• Open immediately and inspect roots.
• Soak the roots in room-temperature water for 1–2 hours before planting.
• Plant in rich, moist, well-draining soil.
• Water thoroughly after planting and keep soil consistently moist.
• Place in bright shade or filtered light with no direct sun for the first 3 days while it acclimates.
• Slowly introduce to gentle morning sun after 3 days.
• Avoid letting the soil fully dry out.
How to Grow:
Gotu Kola prefers partial shade to filtered sunlight and moist soil. It can spread by runners and fill containers or garden spaces quickly under ideal conditions. Regular harvesting encourages fuller growth. In winter climates, it does excellent in pots brought indoors or in a greenhouse.
A must-have herb for medicinal gardens, herbal products, and anyone wanting to grow their own wellness plants.
