Licorice Root
Licorice Root is a naturally sweet root with a long history in European, Asian, Middle Eastern, and other herbal traditions. It is commonly researched by customers interested in the throat, lungs, cough traditions, mucous membranes, digestion, stomach comfort, adrenal traditions, energy, immune support, and sweet-root traditions. Licorice Root is a high-caution herb that should be researched carefully, especially by anyone with high blood pressure, heart, kidney, liver, potassium, or fluid-retention concerns.
Scientific Evidence / Research Status
Licorice contains glycyrrhizin and numerous flavonoids and other plant compounds. Research has examined different licorice preparations, including ordinary glycyrrhizin-containing root and specially processed deglycyrrhizinated licorice, but these products are not interchangeable. Strong evidence that ordinary loose Licorice Root treats cough, lung disease, digestive disease, adrenal disorders, immune disorders, infections, or other medical conditions is lacking. Glycyrrhizin can cause serious adverse effects, including high blood pressure, low potassium, fluid retention, and abnormal heart rhythm, particularly with large or prolonged consumption. Traditional Uses Listed on Jar Label
Throat, lungs, cough tradition, mucous membranes, digestion, stomach comfort, adrenal tradition, energy, immune support, and sweet-root tradition.
Jar-Label Warning Highlights
High-caution herb. Avoid during pregnancy or nursing and with high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, low potassium, fluid retention, or use by children unless professionally guided. Use care with blood-pressure medicine, diuretics, corticosteroids, digoxin, heart medicine, blood thinners, diabetes medication, or other medications. Avoid high doses and long-term use because Licorice Root may raise blood pressure, lower potassium, retain fluid, and affect heart rhythm.
Historical Uses / Traditional Context
Historically, Licorice Root was valued as a sweetening and harmonizing ingredient in traditional formulas and was connected with throat, respiratory, and digestive preparations. Its pleasant sweetness sometimes causes people to underestimate its strength, but traditional and modern safety concerns make it unsuitable as an unrestricted everyday herb for many people.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING
The herb jar labels in this store are personal inventory labels used by the owner of Yahuah's Farm for internal organization, pricing, and owner reference. They are not customer instructions, medical advice, dosage instructions, health advice, or personal recommendations.
Please disregard the health-support wording on the jar labels. Do not choose, purchase, prepare, or use any herb based only on words written on the jar, including words such as support, inflammation, digestion, immune, heart, circulation, pain, skin, blood flow, liver, hormones, or similar wording.
