Meyer Lemon
Citrus × meyeri
Zone 9–11 | Sweet Citrus | Greenhouse or Container Friendly | Self-Pollinating
The Meyer Lemon is one of the most popular and rewarding citrus varieties for home growers. Known for its sweet, floral flavor and thin, deep yellow skin, this lemon-orange hybrid is perfect for fresh use, desserts, drinks, and cooking.
We propagate these plants ourselves from healthy, proven mother trees using rooted cuttings. Each plant is carefully started and shipped at approximately 3 to 6 inches tall, ready to grow into a thriving tree with the right care.
Meyer Lemons are naturally small and ideal for container growing. When grown in a pot, they can be moved indoors in colder climates, making them a favorite for greenhouse growers or patio gardeners. Outdoors, they thrive in Zones 9–11 and can grow up to 6–10 feet tall when mature, though pruning can keep them compact.
This variety is self-pollinating, so only one tree is needed to produce fruit. Trees typically begin bearing within 2 to 3 years under good growing conditions.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Fertilize regularly during the growing season with a citrus-specific fertilizer to support strong growth and fruiting. Protect young plants from frost and bring indoors when temperatures drop below 40°F.
Meyer Lemons are prized for their flavor, compact size, and heavy yields, making them one of the best choices for edible landscapes, potted fruit gardens, and year-round homegrown citrus.
