  • Vegetables
  • Beans
  • Soups and broths

Directions and Safety

Before use, inspect the jar, lid, and screw band carefully. Do not use lids that are bent, dented, rusted, deformed, or damaged around the sealing compound.

Use each lid with a clean, undamaged regular-mouth canning jar and a compatible screw band. Follow the preparation directions printed on the package.

Flat metal canning lids are intended for one-time heat-processing use. Screw bands may be reused when they remain clean, rust-free, and undamaged.

Always use a current, research-tested recipe and follow the required jar size, headspace, processing time, pressure, and altitude adjustment. Water-bath canning is intended only for properly acidified or naturally high-acid foods. Low-acid foods, including plain vegetables, meats, poultry, beans, broths, and many soups, require pressure canning.

A lid sealing does not prove that food was processed safely.

Storage

Keep unused lids in their original box in a clean, dry, and temperature-controlled location. Protect the lids from moisture, rust, dents, bending, and extreme heat.
