Wild Yam Root Powder

Wild Yam Root Powder is a traditional root preparation with a long history in women’s wellness, menstrual, digestive, muscular, and “colic root” traditions. It is commonly researched by customers interested in women’s wellness, menstrual comfort, menopause support, digestive support, liver and gallbladder traditions, healthy inflammatory response, joint comfort, and muscle relaxation. Wild Yam is not natural progesterone and should not be represented as hormone-replacement therapy.

Scientific Evidence / Research Status

Wild Yam contains diosgenin, a compound that can be chemically converted into steroid hormones in a laboratory. The human body does not convert Wild Yam or diosgenin into progesterone, estrogen, or DHEA. Human evidence for menopause, menstrual, joint, digestive, or hormone-related benefits is weak or insufficient. Wild Yam should not be presented as proven to balance hormones, supply progesterone, treat menopause, improve fertility, treat menstrual disorders, treat gallbladder or liver disease, or treat any medical condition. Evidence reviews emphasize that laboratory conversion of diosgenin into hormones does not occur inside the human body.

Traditional Uses Listed on Jar Label

Women’s wellness, menstrual comfort, menopause support, digestive support, liver and gallbladder support, inflammation support, joint comfort, and muscle relaxation.

Jar-Label Warning Highlights

Avoid during pregnancy or nursing unless professionally guided. Use with care with hormone-sensitive conditions, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, a history of hormone-sensitive cancer, hormone medication, birth-control medication, blood-clotting disorders, liver or kidney disease, or medication use. Large amounts may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, or stomach irritation.

Historical Uses / Traditional Context

Historically, Wild Yam was used in Indigenous, folk, and Eclectic herbal traditions, especially for digestive cramping, women’s-cycle traditions, and muscular discomfort. Its modern reputation as “natural progesterone” resulted from laboratory pharmaceutical processing and does not accurately describe what the human body does with the unprocessed herb.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

The herb jar labels in this store are personal inventory labels used by the owner of Yahuah's Farm for internal organization, pricing, and owner reference. They are not customer instructions, medical advice, dosage instructions, health advice, or personal recommendations.

Please disregard the health-support wording on the jar labels. Do not choose, purchase, prepare, or use any herb based only on words written on the jar, including words such as support, inflammation, digestion, immune, heart, circulation, pain, skin, blood flow, liver, hormones, or similar wording.

Those words are not promises, guarantees, proof, or claims that the herb will help that condition. Just because a jar label lists a body system or support word does not mean that herb will help you personally.
